Neurological soft signs correlation with symptom severity in borderline personality disorder

Abstract Background Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a severe psychiatric with multiple psychopathological domains; so studying the correlation of clinical or behavioral data underlying structural and functional neurological findings in BPD focus interest recent years. The aim our study was to compare presence soft signs (NSS) patients borderline their normal controls, correlate severity different symptoms NSS through case-control which conducted on 30 matching controls recruited from Al Kasr Ainy Hospital, Cairo University, Egypt. All subjects were assessed by Personality Questionnaire, Barratt Impulsivity Scale-11, Brief Non-Suicidal Self-Injury Assessment tool, Cambridge Neurological Inventory. Results group had significantly higher total scores, primitive reflexes subscale score, sensory integration scores. There also positive between overall symptoms. Conclusions increased rates associated specific including suicidality, self-harm, emptiness, quasi-psychosis. found have highest NSS.
